River Vrljika

vrljikaSource area and the coastal strip of the river Vrljika right to the bridge Perinuša, was declared the special ichthyological reserve in 1971.

Although small in scope, the reserve is characterized by high quality water, and in ichthyologic terms very important and interesting.

River Vrljika belongs to the Adriatic basin. It is important to note that the Adriatic basin has about 28 endemic species, unlike the Danube, who has only two.

In Vrljika, there is more endemic genera and species of fish. Except the soft-muzzled trout  (Salmothymus obtusirostris) entire flora and fauna including crabs, enjoys the protection.
